Delaware City, RGV, OKC and Muskegon advance to Saturday's semifinals

FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia -- The Major Arena Soccer League 3 playoffs are underway, with first-year Delaware City FC through to the semifinals on Saturday with a convincing 9-3 win over the Cincinnati Swerve in Friday's first quarterfinal result.

The RGV Barracudas have also advanced, and did so in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 win over the previously undefeated Roc City Boom.

DELEWARE CITY 9, CINCINNATI SWERVE 3

DCFC rode a huge performance from Tachito Olivas, who scored seven goals in the regular season, as he scored six times as Delaware held a 27-12 edge in shots. Sergio Franco and Marlon Trejo each had a goals and two assists for the winners. Brandon Hernandez got the win in goal. DCFC won the Atlantic Division, and a playoff spot, in its final games on the last weekend of the regular season. 

rgv barracudas 8, roc city boom 7

RGV will get a chance to defend its league championship thanks to an incredible rally to defeat the Roc City Boom, 8-7. Showing their championship pedigree, the Barracudas scored three times in the game's final four minutes to rally for the win. RGV's Martin Loya tied the game with 3:26 to play and got the game winner with just 56 seconds to go. Rochester had rallied from an early 3-0 deficit, and eventually took a 7-5 lead deep into the fourth before the dramatic finish. RGV held the edge in shots, 23-15. Loya ended with a six point night on five goals and one assist. J.P. Reyes led the Rochester attack with three goals. Abelardo Salvador got the win in goal.

In the other two semifinals, OKC needed overtime to eliminate Cleveland, 10-9, and Muskegon rolled past Baltimore, 13-9
