DMV Gunners fall in debut; Fire win opener
Week 2 in Major Arena Soccer League 3 saw two teams make their debut. Fredericksburg Fire earned a 9-6 road victory over Salisbury Steaks while the Philadelphia Spartans won a hard fought battle against the DMV Gunners 6-4.
Veteran Uriah Bentick powered the Fire offense with four goals and an assist as Fredericksburg made their season debut. Carlos Martinez added a pair of goals for the victors.
Gavin Yingling scored four times for Salisbury (0-2-0) who hosted their second game in franchise history.
Making their league debut, DMV Gunners came close to pulling off an upset against the Spartans (2-0-0) who scored two fourth quarter goals to break the 4-4 tie.
Erik Espinoza scored twice for DMV while Matt Yingling and Manny Ruiz also found the back of the net.
Week 3 sees just one game on the schedule with the Baltimore Kings hosting Salisbury on Saturday.
