Going up against past, present champs leads Favela, Sanchez to weekly honors

TAMPA, Florida -- Players up against the only championship teams Major Arena Soccer League 3 has ever crowned earned Player of the Week recognition in Week 10 for leading their teams to victories over the current and past title holders. 

Chris "Tito" Favela, playing for Deportivo Shaolin, and Angel Sanchez, who suits up for the Maryland Storm, have been selected as the Goalkeeper and Offensive honorees this week. 

Prior to this winter, Favela played seven games in the MASL for the St. Louis Ambush and Kansas City Comets, This past weekend, he was facing the defending league champion RGV Barracudas in a game at Heartland Credit Union Arena in Wichita, and helped his club to an 8-5 win. RGV won the 2024-25 league title.

Sanchez continues to be one of the league's biggest offensive threats, and scored four goals and picked up one assist to lead Maryland to a huge win over Northern Virginia, who took home the league championship trophy for three straight years prior to the Barracuda's winning last year. On the season, he has scored 16 goals, second best so far in the league.
