Baltimore Kings earned a pair of victories this past weekend when they took both ends of a home-and-home series against the Virginia Marauders. Winners of three straight, the Kings (3-2-0) now find themselves tied for second place in the five-team MASL 3 circuit.

In the weekend opener played on Saturday the host Kings dominated play and won handily, 9-1. Henry Scott led the offense with five goals while Gavin Boyer chipped in with a pair of goals and two assists. Ken Truong and Tommy Humphries also scored for the Kings.

The rematch on Sunday night was a much more competitive affair though. Baltimore led 2-1 after one, but the Marauders evened things in the second frame to make it 4-4 at the halftime break. The Kings would take back a one-goal advantage by the end of the third before their depth won out. Baltimore would outscore the home side 3-0 in the final quarter to win 10-6.

Scott, Truong and David Boretti each scored twice for the winners on Sunday. Boyer also had another strong showing scoring a goal while assisting on three others.

Leading the Marauders offense was Chance Holland and Trevor Lip who each scored twice. Seth Cain and Collin Edson also found the back of the net for Virginia (0-4-0) who are still searching for their first-ever franchise victory.

In the other matchup of the weekend Philadelphia Spartans (2-3-0) easily handled a short-handed Fredericksburg Fire squad winning 15-2. This one was never in doubt as the Spartans led from start to finish building a 7-1 first half advantage.

Kevin Zhu and Liam Emson were the Fire goalscorers. Philadelphia stats were not available.
