MASL 3 Week 9 recap

Major Arena Soccer League 3 standings got tighter after Week 9 action with six teams in action. Fredericksburg and Salisbury both won on their home floor whil NoVA bounced back with a road win over DMV.

Salisbury Steaks 6, Philadelphia Spartans 1

Salisbury (2-6-0) stunned the league-leading Spartans (4-1-0) behind a superb goaltending display from Johnny Paletar who gave up just one first half goal. Odie Johnson got the Steaks on the board early in the second half before Clarens Jean Michel scored the eventual game winner with just :22 left in the third quarter.

Fredericksburg Fire 7, Baltimore Kings 6 (OT)

Uriah Bentick scored twice - including the OT game winner - helping the host Fire (3-2-0) come from behind to defeat Baltimore. With the Kings leading 6-5 Keith Demps netted his third goal of the game with just :07 remaining to send the game into overtime. RJ Fuentes and Trevor Bottomley also scored for Fredericksburg.

Henry Scott scored twice to lead the Kings offense while Miguel Ventura scored a goal and assisted on another.

NoVA FC 6, DMV Gunners 4

One week after the Gunners stunned the defending champs NoVA (4-2-0) returned the favor by defeating the Gunners (3-2-0) on their home floor in a penalty filled affair. Manny Ruiz led all scorers with a pair for DMV.
