MASL 3 announces expansion with Des Moines United

Dec 23, 2021 – Tampa, FL - Major Arena Soccer League 3 is pleased to announce Midwest Expansion in Des Moines, IA. Des Moines United joins the Heartland Conference for 2022. 

Des Moines United will begin M3 play in the 2022 Heartland Invitational Cup format against teams from Kansas City (KS), Springfield (MO), and Wichita (KS).  

MASL 3 Heartland Conference Manager Chris Hanlon said, "Des Moines United FC has a proven track record on both the indoor field and the futsal court. We're pleased to welcome them to the Conference. Darwin Salas has a vision for the club and is continually taking steps to improve its structure and deepen its player pool. We look forward to Des Moines United taking the field in 2022."

Originally created as the first futsal club in Des Moines, IA, Des Moines United took second place at the 2018 World Futsal Championships at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. 

"The MASL is the perfect competition for us. First, we're currently the only MASL member in Des Moines. Second, we have credibility with central Iowa's premier players. Third, we think that 2022 is the perfect time to bring joy and happiness to our soccer community," Salas said.
