NoVA, Philadelphia and Fredericksburg win during Week 5

NoVA FC, Philadelphia Spartans and Fredericksburg Fire were all victorious in Week 5 play which also saw one game postponed due to weather.

Defending champion NoVA FC (2-1-0) had to come from behind in their lone game of the weekend, defeating Fredericksburg 13-8. JP Ayolmbong led all scorers with five goals and an assist.  Johnny De Souza scored a hat trick while Bernardo Majano added two for NoVA. Uriah Bentick (three goals, two assists) led the Fire offense with five points while Alan Portillo scored a pair.

First place Philadelphia Spartans (3-0-0) remained unbeaten with a 14-5 win over the Salisbury Steaks. Darius Madison netted the hat trick in the win with Jason DeRocha, Timothy Dugan, Anthony Konah and Jake Mulinge each scored two goals.

In the Sunday night finale Fredericksburg Fire (2-1-0) picked up a road victory over the Virginia Maruaders 12-7. RJ Fuentes (three goals, four assists) made his mark with a seven-point effort. Trevor Bottomley scored four times while assisting on two and Francis Fournier scored a pair along with two assists.

Week 6 has just one game on the schedule. Salisbury Steaks host DMV Gunners on Saturday. Game time at Crown Sports Center is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
