Philadelphia Spartans chasing undefeated NOVA FC as M3 season nears halfway point

TAMPA, Fla -- The Philadelphia Spartans continue to chase Northern Virginia FC as the M3 season approaches the midway point in 2021-22.

The Spartans took a hard fought road win over the weekend against Skyline City FC in Frederick, Maryland, paced by a big five-goal outburst by Tyler Fabian. Timmy Dugan also netted a pair in an 11-2 triumph. 

Goalkeepers James Brett had nine saves in sharing time with keeper Gunner Hoffman who made five stops as Philly improved to 3-1, one back of NOVA FC who were 8-4 winners over the Fredericksburg Fire this past weekend to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Baltimore Kings and Fire battled over the weekend in Fredericksburg as well, with the Charm City side coming home with a hard-earned 5-3 win.

The Kings never trailed, and led 3-2 at intermission. They outshot the hosts, but only by 28-26. 

 William Augsberger led the Fire offense with a goal and an assist while Baltimore's Ken Truong led all scorers with a pair of goals.Teammates Jack Frisbee and Gavid Boyer each chipped in with a goal and as assist as the Kings improved to 2-3 while the Fire fell to 2-3 and are now tied for the 4th and final playoff spot in the M3 Eastern division.
