TAMPA, Florida -- There are only five undefeated teams remaining in Major Arena Soccer League after action in Week 12, and two of them are on a definite collision course.
Both the Cincinnati Swerve and Muskegon Risers are 5-0 in the Great Lakes North Division this winter, and they will meet twice over the final weeks of the regular season. The first showdown comes February 27 before what will be a large and lively crowd at the Trinity Health Arena in Muskegon. And just to make it really interesting, the two will tangle March 14 in Cincinnati which will be the final regular season game of the season for both teams.
The OKC Certified Lions kept their record perfect at 5-0 with a gritty win against the Wichita Selection, which got a spark from the father/son duo of Tito and "Bash" Rodriguez playing together for the first time in the league. The Buffalo Gunners got a late goal, and a big defensive effort, in turning back the Cleveland Samba while Deportivo Shaolin had a big offensive effort against the Selection to grab a win as well.
Next weekend, the Atlantic Division roars back to life with some huge contests including Delaware City at NOVA FC and the Baltimore Kings -- another of the leagues undefeated teams -- on the road against the Maryland Storm. In another anticipated matchup, the defending champion RGV Barracudas will host OKC.
