TAMPA, Florida -- Northern Virginia narrowly avoided what would have been the biggest upset in the five-year history of Major Arena Soccer League 3 play this past weekend as they squeezed out a win over the Virginia Marauders, 12-10.

NOVA has won three league championships, and the Marauders are winless in four seasons of league play, but the two teams were tied going into the final quarter before NOVA closed out the victory.
